It was during my first dinner at IIM-A which was some 26-28 days back when i saw some T-shirts hanging in a small souvenier outlet which was located just near the Mess...I felt really good of the thought that I am going to buy those iim-a T-shirts.The outlet was closed and through the window of that outlet me and asif(bhaijaan) were checking out the T-shirts.There was this black t-shirt with a very bold statement written all over it that caught our attention...
It went like this:
On the front side it said "dont u wish u were here" and on the back it was " branded for life - IIM AHMEDABAD"...
The outlet was closed and and it was to open only after the second year classes began that was 11th june i think...Both of us swore to buy the t-shirt and disscused all the cool and wonderful prospects of wearing the T-Shirt which said "Branded for life"...Well, time passed and it was 11th june, the outlet from where everyone wanted to buy the shirts was wide open. Many of my prep-batchmates as well as me bought the T-shirts sayin "branded for life - iim ahmedabad" with loads of smiles on our faces.Public from the prep batch began wearing those T-shirts proudly. There were few guys within the prep batch who didnt like the idea of flaunting their T- shirts within the campus...
Many faccha's including me came to the prep classes wearing the iim-a T-Shirts and this was the point were all the controversy pertaining to the T-Shirt started..Most of da people in class had their opinions for the T-shirt....
* some classmates put forward a theory that would put da principles of relativity under a cloud.... the T-shirt was not designed properly they said..."it says 'dont u wish u were here' from da front and how can any passerby looking from the front is going to know what do u mean by that...coz the destination thats IIM - A was printed on the backside..." so the statement that 'dont u wish u were here' is ridiculous... Some of the guys then started giving suggestions on how actually the T-Shirt should have been designed...all came up with some fantastic ideas and personally i think they should join "ARMANI" or "HUGO BOSS" for dress designing instead of doing a MBA from iim-a...hehe
*one valid point raised by a future entreprenuer was that "why the hell on earth are u guys wearing the T- shirt in the IIM- A campus"...the T shirt says 'dont u wish u were here in IIMA'..but when u wear that shirt in the campus it does not make sense, v all are here (thats iima)..U can wear the t-shirt anywhere not but not in the campus"...i felt that this point was very valid...
*well this is yet another incident that revolves around the so called "branded for life T-shirt"...Quant class was going on and many of the guys were attending the class, yess in their most prized possesion that was the same T-shirt "branded for life"..the class went on and as alwaz everyone was bored to death studying the same topics of math(probability, limits etc..etc) that they have studied their whole lives ...their was also a continous source of entertainment from our math prof who is the PJ MASTER of iim-a...and from time to time this brings some moments of time pass in da class...all of us survived the class from those deadly pjs that our math prof was throwing at us...the class was over and everyone was leaving the classroom frustrated and with a hurry as if they had to catch a flight or had to attend a very important business meeting....haha..well the great math prof was standing near the blackboard looking at people pushing and struggling to get out of the class...it was at this time that he noticed few faccha's going out with the T- shirts "Branded for life"...i was the one standing beside the great PJ master and overheard his invaluable comment on the T-shirt...
The PJ master said " what is this silly "branded for life" doing on ur shirts...if u want to be a brand entity i will help u do that...just lower ur pants and i will hit u with a hot iron mould of "IIM-A" on ur backs(he meant a*s)"....he went on and said "this is what they do to the horses ,right?"
i was thinking to my self "what the da hell is wrong wid this guy....he just called me a freakin horse..."
After all these incidents i thought the T-shirt controversy was laid to rest and finally no one is going to have any comments and scholastic point of veiws on this topic....I was wrong...I returned back to bombay on 17th for 4 days of break after the prep course as the main sessions for PGP-1 begin on 21st june..It was only yesterday when the very delicate matter and controversy of "branded for life" t-shirt erupted once again...
Yesterday few of us freinds had decided to meet up and have lunch at the PIZZERIA adjoining the marine drive..meeting old freinds, chatting long hours, going out to watch movies brings pleasent old memories and i was dying to meet them..i decided to go out in jeans and for T-shirt i selected the same black T-shirt("branded for life") thinking that the it wont create any further controversy...atleast this is what i thought...I arrived on time exchanged the same hi's and hello's and started talking to my good old freinds discussing topics that could be analysed for hours and hours...sitting there eating the piping hot pizzas watching the waves at marine drive hitting the shore was a great feeling....it was just a matter of time that mr.late latif (mr.piyu) arrived and hit on my back with a thud...he noticed what was written on my back, the same freakin "branded for life" message which seemed so very harmless to me and asif the first time v saw it hanging merrily in the iim-a outlet.....
Mr.Piyu who is going to be engaged very soon with ***** in calcutta hehe...falls in the category of those guys(freinds) who just need the most minute and microscopic topics to pull ur leg which if they find, u r dead as a beat...they try to make conclusions arrive at inferences that even a nuclear physicist cant arrive on...he began in his very own hindi tone
"yaar amit IIM-A mein gaya toh bahot bada aadmi ho gaya re".....he goes on "buddy just tell me why did u come to meet us here with this cheap t-shirt sayin 'branded for life'??"....this very question's i thought that would never arise were now sitting like a curled cobra in front of me.....i explained him in a very freindly and polite manner that it was not meant for flaunting that i got into IIM A....now came the discussion of the day..
Everyone was njoing the pizzas and rainy winds when they began to discuss what makes a person to wear a T-shirt like that....Answers to this questions came flying in....was it "arrogance"...was it a "showoff"..was it " me being rude"......
ultimately all came to a conclusions that i was rude and arrogant to showoff that T-shirt(branded for life)..and that too just 21 daz after joining iima....these lines by my freinds made my day....i m certain now i will think a million times before i m going to wear that CURSED BLACK T-SHIRT.......
ps:i m kidding...watever u guys call me..i m goin 2 wear that t-shirt..and i might be a showoff but not mean,arrogant and rude...guhahaha...

games people play......
Prep course ended yesterday...There's a break of 5 days before the main PGP term begins...There are people from my prep batch who are going to Mumbai and Surat just to watch SIVAJI (the movie starring rajnikant..oops its superstar rajnikant..haha.And ofcourse he puts Keanu Reeves and his stunts in Matrix to shame, atleast this is wat I have heard)..The reason being, Sivaji is not releasing in Ahmedabad...hats off to all rajni's fans..Some of the guys are stayin back on the campus...u might ask "doing wat?"..well the answer is :preparing for the course of MAN-ACC(accounting)..OHH Lord !! help those guys in their endeavours of learning manacc..hehe..As far as I am concerned I took a valuable advice from a tuccha who said "yaar paanch dinn mile hai ...go home and njoi as much as u can"...he went on further "sab kuch iss 5 dinn mein kar beta ,ladki pattani hai patta, ladki ghumani hai ghuma-baad mein 3 mahine ki jail hai"-guhhaha
Reached bombay in da morning and I m chilling out..thought of writing a post on a yesterday evening's incident on the campus......
The most important means for entertainment in IIM A during the 2 years is that people play all da sports here in the campus..atleast during the prep course and during the second year(first year is for mugging) .. I hate cricket and always thought that cricket is a game for fools.....But guess wat, i had to play cricket almost everyday with my batch mates inspite of hating it, the reason being no one from my batch is interested in football, volleyball etc etc....well i hate to say it I am also a fool now..
I have always been interested in playing volleyball..played volleyball throughout my school-life,college-life and represented my college for the university level matches..I think I was born to play volleyball and when I saw two volleyball courts on the very first day on the campus I was estatic..i thought yessss! people here play volleyball....but it was my badluck or should i say fate that till yesterday evening which was the last day of my prep course I didnt see a volleyball in the campus...
It was 6 in the evening yesterday, I had packed my bags and I was supposed to leave the campus at 7:30 as my train for bombay was scheduled to depart at 9.I was feeling quite good and there was a sense of achievement that I had completed the prep course...I really dont know what achievement I had except burning the midnight oil for.....chatting in the LKP lawns and playing badminton till 3-4 in the morning...haha..I was really bored after packing my bags for an hour and at the very last moment I remembered that one of my best freind's in bombay had asked for an IIM A souvenier....as alwaz I forgot to buy it and so went out in my conquest to search it..the souvenier shop was closed as it was a saturday and i was returning empty handed thinking about a thousand reasons that i will tell my freind for not bringing the souvenier...At that very precise moment I saw a tuccha with what seemed like a volleyball...I thought to myself Cool!!! at last i am going to play volleyball....well that was the good part ....
THE BAD PART:
I had read a blog last year about the heroics of IIM-A volleyball team when they defeated the IIM-B team which was the crucial decider for the entire sports meet...I thought, now is the chance for me to play with the same guys the same heroes of last year who made IIM-B bite dust...I along with the three tucchas started the march towards the volleyball court. One of the tucchas said that there were atleast 8 more players who were coming to play and this prospect of playing a full fledged match brought excitement and joy...
The 3 tuccha's and a bakra(me) started to play on the volleyball court just practicing a bit, before all the players came.... As the 4 of us tried to play, there was 99% chasing and running for the ball than playing volleyball..yess all tuchhas were running after the ball and none and i m serious no one knew how actually volleyball is played....15 min passed as everyone was trying to play volleyball in strange style's that i had never ever witnessed...the other 8 players who were supposed to come and play with us never showed up....i think they were abducted by some alien's on their way to the volleyball court....
All the while I was on the volleyball court trying to contemplate what sort of game were the tucchas trying to play I forgot that I had a train leaving at 9 :00pm...It was 8 in da night before it struck me....I had a train to catch and I had only 1 hour.....I rushed back to my dorm room with speed that would make a rajdhani express think twice....With great swiftness I put on my clothes and ran with my bagpack as fast as i could...Sitting in the auto trying to give the rickshawala the direction's towards the railway station I was thinking that something was not right...
By God's grace I reached the station just in time located my train and sat comfortably in my seat chatting with a parsi uncle who for no reason was cursing the railways....He went on and on till the moment I dug deep into a novel.. But the thought that I missed something and that something was wrong as I left the campus kept on bothering me again and again....
As I was trying to sleep in my top berth, it hit me...
S**t... I forgot to turn off the Cooler in my room ...........

lull before the storm........
I am sitting in my Dorm room @iim-a, trying to write my first ever blog ...never in my life i thought i would be doing this....right now it feels as if i am in a discotheque with loud music going on, thanks to my second year senior, oops the so called great tuccha here at iim-a...i really dont know why he is in such a great mood, and that too at 1 am in the morning..maybe he has just broken off with his gf or mayb becoz there are no assignments to do for tomorrow's classes...i cant understand why the hell a person has to listen to loud music and make everyone else listen to it....i guess thats the way everything works out here in hostels(dorms) where i have never been...
I m not going to discuss about my preparation for cat and Gd-Pi experiences and all that blah blah...I feel most of the bloggers do it and tell how great they were to crack CAT and the GD-Pi and according to me it makes the blog a bit boring and pompous....getting back to the point, my course for IIM-A PGP-1 is going to start from 21st june but i am one of the few lucky ones who had an oppourtunity to join the initial preparatory course which started from 28th may....Well, its been more than 15 days since i am here in Ahmedabad and at the hallowed campus of iim-a ...the city of Ahmedabad is hott and i mean it ...its hotter than bombay from were i come but i guess i will get used to it..other than this Ahmedabad feels like a small town in comparison to aamchi mumbai..Ok back to the prep course....
prep course: A training period of 20 dayz where they teach a collection of engineers from different parts of the country to calculate limits, probability, integration and derivatives...haha..i forgot about grammer wherein all of us had to learn articles, tenses and all the stuff that a person with an IQ of 10 wud do it happily...
My time here at the prep course has been rocking till now..m njoing every single moment here...made so many freinds attended a zillion bday parties and treats and of course played cricket almost everyday.....
THE TUCCHA GYAAN-it was just 5-6 days back that all the tucchas or shud i say GODS at iima, started to return back from their respective summer internships....It was a saturday evening and i was in my room at the penthouse(apun ka dorm-5) listening to coldplay when someone knocked on my door...it was GOD himself who had shown up at my door...a tuccha who had just returned from germany that afternoon after completing his summers....intro happened and i was really surprised when he said "yaar teko mein aaj treat deta hu....tu pehla faccha(1st year bakra) hai jise mein mila hu"...i guess he must have been fed up eating sausages in germany for 2 months and wanted to eat good indian food...well i obliged by gods' command and i found myself at some filmi restaurant in Ahmedabad....As i began to talk and ask for some gyaan from the allmighty regarding life at iim-a , i was soon overloaded with information and soon felt a headache...
The 10 commandments that i was loaded with are as follows:
1.never ask da tuccha wat was his cgpa...which i did
2.never look at any tucchi however beautiful she might be..if u do so u might find her tuccha bf's in ur room...hehe
3.be on time for ur lectures ..1 second late means that u r early for the next class....
4.never ever bring any cell fones in ur class...if it rings u will get a F (its a F grade and not F***)5.playing sports, watchin movies is a dream once the course begins ...only entertainment is eating
6.u will have to skip lunches for there will be surprise quizes at 2:30 in da afternoon and ur classes get over at 1:15...
7.as time passes u will like surprise quizes....it is a level playin feild.."jab apni lagti hai toh sab logo kii lagti hai"
8.be ready to sleep at 5am and get up at 8am in the morning for ur next day's class....
9.sunday's bring a hope for a free day...ofcourse this is not true for 99% of the times
10.and most importantly: "MUGGON FACCHON MUGGON"
after all the gyaan i got it feels that as the prep course draws to a close, it is just the beginning of the end..its a silence before the storm..
i guess thats all i have to say in my 1st blog...guess wat its 2:30 am and i m not going to sleep...class ka public are playin badminton ....and i m goin there....
